Bluebell Woods
Comments OffWinter Road
Comments OffA road in winter in the south lake district. I painted this on a warm August afternoon – bit of a strange feeling painting such a wintry scene! This painting is a little larger than those I’ve done recently, about 18″x12″. Its the first oil painting I’ve done in a while.
Winter Road. Oil on canvas, 18″x12″. £100.

Comments OffMeranti Globe Lamp
Comments OffI carved this lamp for my sister for Christmas 2009 out of Meranti. It’s a hardwood in the mahogany family, with a very strong grain and produces a musty smell when you carve it. I love maps, so enjoyed carving the world into a globe shape for the middle. As the picture shows, I fed the wire for the lamp through the middle (I used a very large masonry drill bit) and borrowed a lamp fitting and shade from one of my mum’s bedside lamps! It is finished with a tinted varnish.
Tree in summer
Comments OffThis is a painting I did when I was eleven years old. It is of the tree outside the flat where I lived with my Mum and Step-father. I clearly decided it would be best to paint the railings of our balcony first, and worry about the background later. I do think it makes for an interesting image though, even now!
