Moroccan Drummers

Comments Off

This painting is from a larger image of a group of drummers. I particularly liked these three because of the way they’re sitting and have their eyes closed. I enjoyed using warmer colours in this painting. Oil on Canvas 12″ x 16″. For sale at £150.

This painting echoes some of the ideas presented in my red paintings, but I see the grey as a kind of a development of these. This is 18″x14″, acrylic on canvas.

This was my first ever abstract painting, and conjures some very strong ideas and images for me. This painting is around 20″x14″ and painted in oil. I have tried to create a sense of depth and complexity in the red, with a clear and very precise focus coming to the fore, in the green.

This painting is a coming together of a series of red paintings and grey paintings, many of which aren’t yet on this website. It was the last of both types of painting that I made, in 2008. Looking back at it, I feel its slightly crude, and comes across as quite a rushed painting.

Lake Derwent – Looking East

This is my favourite place in the world, standing at the top of ‘Cat Bells’ on the Western edge of Lake Derwent, in the Lake District. Weather like this is extremely rare in the lakes, so this was quite a special day! I gave this painting to my mother, who shares my love of this view.
